Marshall Pastro, Investment Advisors is a leading group of professional advisors within BMO Nesbitt Burns. We provide advanced planning strategies and unique wealth protection solutions to affluent families, businesses and non-profit organizations.
We dedicate ourselves to designing and implementing appropriate wealth management solutions for clients with significant investable assets.
While we serve a wide range of investors, all of our clients are accumulating sizeable portfolios and seek professional advice on managing their assets and planning for their future.
Having peace of mind with their finances is a top priority for our clients.
Our Mission Statement:
To serve as our clients’ primary financial manager by providing integrated financial solutions and advisory services which are designed to manage risk, preserve capital, and achieve consistent positive returns.
Our Core Investment Beliefs:
1. Over a business cycle the equity market increases rather than erodes prudently invested capital.
2. Over the short term (regardless of views from analysts, the media, or any source willing to guess) market direction is unknowable with any certainty.
3. Being out of the market as it trends higher is a greater risk to your long term performance than being in the market as it trends lower.
4. Committing equity investments to a period of time less than a business cycle is speculation.
5. Always add to quality investments on actual market weakness instead of selling those same investments due to the perception of future market downturns.
The utilization of these tenets is our advantage. Our beliefs assist us in making appropriate, disciplined, long term investment decisions for the benefit of our clients.
Our Client Relationships:
• Our relationships with our clients start with the development of a comprehensive financial plan to achieve their long-term financial goals. As part of this plan, we cover the investment, insurance, tax and estate planning aspects of each client’s situation.
• We strive to serve as our clients’ chief financial advisor. As part of this role, we can help coordinate the activities of existing professional advisors such as tax accountants and estate lawyers. If required, we also tap into our own network of professional advisors.
• Our investment philosophy is conservative in nature. Operating within each client’s risk profile, an investment policy statement is developed in order to structure investment portfolios which will achieve long-term growth and effectively manage risk. Our approach allows both our clients and ourselves to sleep soundly at night.
• Tax planning and minimization is a key component of financial planning. As part of an overall plan, strategies such as income splitting, prudent use of leverage and family trusts are evaluated.
• Each year our clients receive a summary of performance. The information is timely and is presented clearly. In addition, the format of the report is reviewed with all new clients at the outset of each relationship.
• Each client’s account is monitored on an ongoing basis to take advantage of opportunities created by changing circumstances. In addition, each plan is reviewed annually and appropriate adjustments are discussed and implemented.
• We make ourselves as accessible to clients as possible. All telephone calls are returned the same business day, either personally or by our assistant.
• We believe the best client is one who is fully informed. As a result, we have a strong commitment to client communication through a regular newsletter, regular workshops for clients on market updates and guest speakers. In addition, we maintain a library of some of the very best books on personal finance, available for loan to all of our clients.
