TEAM INTRODUCTION

An investment advisor with BMO Nesbitt Burns since 1982, Pierre Morin has become part of the firm’s elite group where he serves as senior Vice-President.

He and his wife Josée Dupont are registered Financial Planners with the IQPF since 1997. They were also appointed Certified Administrator by L’Ordre des Administrateurs du Québec in that same year. They both undergo a continuous education and formation program of 30 hours per year to maintain their certification.

After Josée joined in 1983, they started building a team to better serve their growing client base.
Brenda Walls an Investment Representative joined in 1990. Nancy Landry our Administrative Assistant joined in 1994. Most recently Patrick Delaney an Investment Representative having over 10 years of investment industry experience, most of which at BMO Nesbitt Burns has joined the team.
Together our team of seasoned professionals merge their diverse yet complimentary skills of significant experience to provide better client service as well as a more manageable approach to investing.

Pierre and his team are currently responsible for managing more than $230 million in investments. The investment strategy is based on the establishment of an adequate asset allocation for each of his clients, followed by the selection of investment vehicles suited to their needs.

Long hours are spent communicating with clients reiterating the importance of their long-term objectives and reasserting the investment vehicles chosen to reach those objectives. Their undeniable commitment to offer superior quality advice and service combined with the high level of integrity and professionalism from all members of the team are the essential reasons behind their success.

TEAM MISSION AND PHILOSOPHY

Our mission is to take the time to understand the needs of our clients and to assist them in formulating the proper investment strategy to best reach their current and future goals.

Our investment philosophy consists in advising clients about managing portfolios with a long-term view. Although we don’t suggest avoiding growth stocks, our investment philosophy is more biased toward value investing. We also favor a balanced approach to investing which allows us to recommend adjusting the asset mix given the economic outlook. This investment strategy will reduce a portfolio’s volatility and a client's anxiety. It will also minimize the risk of taking an emotional investment decision rather than a rational one. Individual portfolios are balanced between the various asset classes according to the client’s risk tolerance, current and future income needs, available assets, and age. Holdings include small and large cap companies as well as low and high income stocks. Through this philosophy of wide diversification, we have been able to provide a competitive average return while controlling risk.

We use a unique management technique. In order to adequately track our clients’ investments, we created our own model portfolio and newsletter. Securities held in a client’s portfolio are chosen within the model portfolio and the selection is a function of his or her risk tolerance and investment objectives. As a result, the majority of clients’s holdings are within the model portfolio which enable us to efficently and effectively monitor all customers’ portfolios at once. When adjustments are needed we contact and advise clients to seek their approval. The newsletter is a bi-annual (May/November) document which updates our clients on the economic front, the asset mix adjustments if needed as well as a comment on each of the stocks held in the model portfolio with a recommendation.

It also tracks the performance of the model portfolio and charts its diversification by industry. You can view an excerpt of our last newsletter along with the charts on this web site see (Publications). Individual stocks and updates are not available on this site.
