Our process begins with you. An in depth meeting is conducted where your short and long term investment goals are discussed, as well as your return objective and risk tolerance. A retirement analysis and an investment proposal, including a recommended asset allocation, are prepared for you. An Estate Plan is also completed where appropriate.
The Retirement Analysis and the Investment Plan provide the strategic direction necessary for meeting your long-term goals. Regular reporting and monitoring are provided on an ongoing basis. We ensure that you are involved in the process of meeting your goals through regular and comprehensive meetings.

While no one can predict the future, we try and make it clearer. Most importantly we have the experience necessary to help you chart the course toward your financial success.
Estate Planning* Estate Planning is a necessary component of any thorough financial plan. We work with in house estate planning specialists who have advanced expertise on estate, insurance, and tax planning issues ensuring that your family’s needs are all addressed.
The Susan O’Brien Group also works with outside legal counsel to ensure that you have an integrated estate plan. This includes estate preservation, charitable giving, succession planning, spousal trusts, cross border financial and estate planning, and maximization of retirement income. A graduate of the University Of Toronto, Bachelor of Commerce program, Susan has a double major in Finance and Economics. She has exceeded all industry educational requirements. She has completed the Canadian Securities Course, Insurance Level 1 and 2, Personal Financial Planning (PFP), the Conducts and Practices Handbook Course, and Portfolio Management Techniques. She is designated as a Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) and holds the highest honour in the securities industry as a Fellowship of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI). Susan has completed the BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc 18 month Wealth Advisor program and is officially recognized as a Wealth Advisor. Most recently she completed the Senior Officers, Directors and Partners course with the Canadian Securities Institute.
Susan is committed to her community . She has sat on the Advisory Committee for the Entrepreneurship Degree Program at Mount Royal College and has been a mentor through the Alberta Women’s Enterprise Initiative. She has been a guest speaker at the Investor Learning Centre and an industry columnist. She has held numerous volunteer positions in her community as Girl Guide leader, Traffic Coordinator, canvasser and has served on the executive board at Christ Church.
Susan lives with her husband Stewart Corbett, and their children, Austin, Caroline, Alexander and Andrew. They enjoy skiing and boarding in the mountains, time at their cabin in Windermere and and golf at the Glencoe Club.

Paul joined BMO Nesbitt Burns in 2005, and officially joined the Susan O’Brien Group in 2007. Prior to joining BMO Nesbitt Burns Paul worked on the banking side of, both, BMO and another major Canadian financial institution. Paul holds a Bachelor of Management Degree, major in Finance, from the University of Lethbridge. Since then Paul has completed the Canadian Securities Course, the Conduct and Practices Handbook Course, and the Wealth Management Essentials course. Paul continues to further his education through the Canadian Securities Institute working towards obtaining his accreditation of Canadian Investment Manager (CIM).
Outside of work, Paul has obtained his 3M NCCP Coaching Certification (levels 1 & 2) and enjoys coaching Calgary Minor Hockey Teams. Outside of the rink Paul enjoys playing golf during the summer months.

Working closely with Susan and Paul, Kathy’s primary role is to assist with the service side of business. She handles all administrative matters and ensures all client requests are handled promptly and efficiently. Kathy strives to meet and exceed client service expectations.
Kathy has over 15 years of experience in the investment industry. She is licensed and can assist clients with executing trades. Her experience has been with full-service investment firms, in an administrative capacity. Kathy lives with her husband Peter and their two young children in Calgary.
