Barney Bonekamp has analyzed global economies and international trends for twenty years. His main responsibilities include assessing country risk as part of the Bank's risk management function. Barney works closely with the international areas of the Bank. He is also involved in formulating the Department's global economic outlook and does analytical work on a wide range of international issues. Barney's focus is on emerging market economies with particular attention to developments in key global players such as China.
Barney has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours, 1st Class) degree in Economics from Simon Fraser University. He has a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario, where he also did doctoral studies. Before joining the Bank of Montreal, Barney was a lecturer in Economics at the University of Western Ontario.
