Client Experience
Client Responsibilities
As a full service firm, we need you to be aware of and meet certain obligations
to help ensure a successful relationship:
A full and accurate description
of your financial situation and objectives that will enable your Investment Advisor to
assist you in developing your investment strategy.
In order to make suitable recommendations, your Investment Advisor needs to understand
your overall personal and financial profile. The information that you
should provide to your Investment Advisor prior to establishing your account or investment
strategy includes your objectives, time horizon for investing, risk tolerance,
investment knowledge and other general financial information that will
assist your Investment Advisor in developing a strategy to meet your specific needs. Changes
to this information or financial or life circumstances should be promptly
discussed with your Investment Advisor in order to assess whether a change in your investment
strategy is necessary.
It is important that you understand that there are
risks associated with investing in the markets and you need to know what
your level of risk tolerance is as an investor.
As an investor, it is critical that you understand and can accept the
level of risk associated with all of your investments. Risk encompasses
the markets and the economy generally. Risk tolerance may be affected
by changes in personal financial and life circumstances. If you are uncertain
about your risk tolerance, please discuss this with your Investment Advisor who can help
you in identifying a level of risk with which you can feel comfortable.
Ensure that you carefully review and understand all
account documentation, proposals, planning documents and other information
that your Investment Advisor will be using to establish or make any changes to your account
or investment strategy.
The final decision on an investment rests with you,
unless you are participating in a third party money management program.
Transactions cannot be made without your approval and the final decision
on whether to invest in a security rests with you. For that reason, it
is important that you take the time to review the information provided
to you and to ask questions about any areas of concern.
The prompt settling of the financial obligations
resulting from your investment decisions is your responsibility (for example,
paying for purchases within the required time period).
Before executing any transaction or embarking on your investment strategy,
you should thoroughly understand the terms and conditions applicable to
each type of account you use (e.g., cash, margin or options). This will
ensure that you understand your responsibility to meet potential obligations,
and that you understand the consequences of failing to meet these obligations.
Thoroughly review your account information and promptly
report any errors or concerns to your Investment Advisor.
In order to ensure that any errors or problems are resolved quickly, you
must review the confirmations of transactions and account statements that
we provide to you, and promptly notify your Investment Advisor of any
discrepancies or concerns. You must feel completely free to contact the
Investment Advisor's Branch Manager or BMO Nesbitt Burns' head office
at any time for assistance in resolving any such concerns.
Communicate regularly with your Investment Advisor.
In addition to notifying your Investment Advisor immediately of any change
in your financial or personal circumstances, we recommend that you meet
or communicate with your Investment Advisor periodically, in order to
discuss your investment plan, portfolio, and progress toward your objectives.
